To help with our first missional objective of helping maintain and develop the church building as a place of peace and prayer, we are setting up a Friends of Axmouth Church group. This will give people in the village who are not members of the church community an opportunity to give directly to the church building and also to volunteer their time and skills in the upkeep of the building and churchyard. To this end, we will be holding an open meeting on Monday 28th March at 7pm at The Harbour Inn. At this meeting we explaining the vision for the church building and will be inviting members of the community to contribute.
Tell everyone you know about the Friends of Axmouth Church group and invite them to join you at the open meeting on 28th March.
We would like every member of the church to consider what we call ‘planned giving’ to support the mission of the church (if you do not already do so). Planned giving is where you give, not in the weekly cash collection, but by standing order directly from your bank account. The reason we ask you to do this is such that the PCC (church council) can better plan our expenditure on mission and make sure we spend our money on the right things.
If you do not currently give by planned giving, please download, complete and return the following form:
In November, we were celebrated as a Mission Community. This means that we decided to put mission first in the life and witness of the church community. So what is our mission? Axmouth Church seeks to be a blessing to the village of Axmouth and have an impact in the wider world. We aim to do this through four areas:
1. The church building – maintaining and developing it as a place of peace and prayer.
2. Pastoral care – providing licensed and lay ministry, support and a listening ear for the bereaved, elderly, lonely and sick in our community (and the wider community).
3. The parish magazine – serving the community by providing a forum for communication for the whole village.
4. Charitable giving – raising money to support Axmouth’s adopted charities – currently St. Petrock’s in Exeter and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
We would like every member of Axmouth Church to consider prayerfully these four areas and pick one. Which one stands out for you? Which one interests you? We would like you to sign up to joining one of the four areas of mission by completing a form sent to you in the post, and returning it in the envelope that has been provided. The plan is that we will gather the people interested in the same area to pray, plan and support their chosen area of mission.
Note: If you did not get a letter, please contact us.
