<p>This Sunday at 10am the theme is Goodness! The Bible reading is: <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew%206:1-4&amp;version=NLT">Matthew 6:1-4</a></p>

<p><em>“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.&#8221;</em></p>

<p align="center">All sorts of interesting things!</p>
<p>On <b>Saturday May 11th</b> there is to be a survey of the brook that runs through our village. This is being organised by the Natural Axmouth group with help from local wildlife associations. The aim is to make a list of living things, plants and invertebrates, on the verges and in the water- so that we can be aware of the rich diversity of life that is to be found in the brook, and make sure we maintain the environment that sustains this beautiful and abundant natural feature.</p>
<p>The following <b>Saturday, May 18th</b>, there is an exciting event- a Caribbean Evening to be held in the church and village hall. If the weather is fine the Axe Valley Community College Steel band will play out in the open air. There will be a marquee and a barbecue as well as a raffle, a rock group and the chance to sing along with the Caribbean ‘Gospel’ singers.</p>
<p>This event is being organised by the Friends of Axmouth Church- so do come along and enjoy the entertainment.</p>
<p>On <b>Sunday May 19th</b>- Pentecost- there will be Holy Communion in St Michael’s Church at 10 am, with the service being led by Rev Kate Woolven from the Five Alive Mission Community. Roger Grose will be preaching and playing the organ- not exactly at the same time, but he’s very adept at moving quickly from the organ stool to the lectern.</p>
<p>The marquee will still be there on Church Green in the afternoon of <b>Sunday May 19th, </b>when you can come along and enjoy a cup of tea and cakes. The teas are being provided by the Making Waves Group who raise money for charity- this time all proceeds will go to Comic Relief and to the Alzheimers  Society.</p>
<p>Now make a note of the biggest annual in event in Axmouth- the VILLAGE SHOW. This year it will be on <b>Saturday July 27th.  Watch out for more information nearer the day.</b></p>
